Ever wanted to go on an Everest or similar extreme mountain expedition, but you’ve never climbed with oxygen, crossed ladders with crampons, or known how to assess avalanche hazards on a macro scale.

Ever wanted to give yourself and your team the greatest margin for safety on the medical front. Knowing that altitude and cold injuries could be a constant threat, and a host of other mild to life-threatening issues could occur, how do you create a reasonable level of readiness?
Ever wanted to have access to family, friends, work, and telemedicine backup from anywhere, including Camp 4 on Everest. Also wanting to have the ability to upload text, pictures and more directly to your website from the side of the mountain. How do you learn about what is the cutting edge in comms, and how to use it?
Ever wanted to film your adventures, but not knowing which video gear was appropriate for those harsh conditions. Which gear was the lightest weight, most reliable, with effective batteries as well. Beyond that, wanting not only to get video, but quality video that effectively communicates your story and point of view?
If you have a few days free in January, you can have all of these questions and more answered in a unique training in the Colorado high country. A team of experts has been assembled to offer participants the latest in cutting edge skills and technology, with hands on training and scenarios in realistic settings. The training is not inexpensive but the information and skills you will come away with are invaluable.
Remote Medical International has teamed up with fellow industry leaders Explorersweb/Humanedgetech.com , Serac Adventure Films and Everest guide Luis Benitez to bring a “mountain” of experience directly to the small group of participants. The Critical Skill Training will take place in and above Breckenridge, Colorado January 16-19, 2009. The training will include a day of orientation and lectures, a long day at altitude in the winter alpine setting with skills stations and realistic scenarios, and a final day of workshops where smaller groups will learn to tie everything together and get custom instruction for their specific goals.
Participants will:
  • Learn how to assess altitude illness, stabilize the patient in the environment, and access telemedicine support via state-of-the-art comms
  • Film action safely, effectively, and professionally in harsh conditions. Then edit that film and publish it via comms directly to the internet
  • Ascend fixed lines, cross ladders with crampons, and practice use of oxygen masks, hyperbaric chambers (PAC or Gamow bag), and pulse oximeters
  • Be instructed by professionals from four fields in state-of-the-art techniques, and be field tested in realistic and challenging conditions to provide the best conditions for assimilating skills
The goal is for you, the participant, to be exposed to skills and techniques gained from hard experience and latest research, so that you can be learn vital techniques under real conditions in advance of when you might need them.
The results? Enhanced ability to perform safely, the ability to communicate with the world beyond the mountain, the ability to record your experiences, and peace of mind.
